Christy Willix is a Family Nurse Practitioner currently working in public health,
managing family planning, maternity, sexually transmitted disease, communicable disease,
and breast and cervical cancer control clients. In her position as manager of the STD
clinic at the Madison County health department, Ms. Willix treats patients and is responsible
for managing all policies and procedures for the STD program.
With over 13 years of nursing experience, Ms. Willix has cared for clients across the lifespan
in a variety of settings, including home health, acute care, and long term care.
In addition, she has 9 years of experience as an educator, working with nurses, nursing assistants,
and ancillary personnel. Ms. Willix volunteers in a free medical clinic, and participates
in clinical research.
Ms. Willix received her Diploma in Nursing and Associate in Science from Carbarrus Memorial Hospital
School of Nursing, and went on to earn her BSN from Western Carolina University. In 2002, Ms. Willix
completed her MSN/FNP at Western Carolina University. Ms. Willix is a member of Sigma Theta Tau,
the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the American Nurses Association, the North Carolina
Nurses Association, and the Western North Carolina Public Health Association.
